Our first event during our wedding week was the Mayian Ceremony (also referred to as Haldi, Batna or Vatna]. It is a traditional Punjabi ceremony that takes place typically a few days prior to the wedding ceremony. This ceremony is when friends and family rub paste (usually turmeric based) on the bride and groom to cleanse the skin and make them glow for the wedding.
We had our family and friends come and rub paste on us, while posing for a picture.
This was the absolute best way to say hi to everyone that had traveled to Mexico for our wedding!
